Writing:
Many students have decided to take home their writing to work on outside of school hours. Their realistic fiction pieces are due tomorrow afternoon, and I know they are as excited as I am to share with each other, including you all! If students want to work on the typing component at home, they are absolutely welcome to. Feel free to edit and conference with your student as well. I have been furiously working to read, edit, and revise with each child. I have made it through most of the class, but I am perfectly fine with you editing their work too. If they want to type at home, I have told the class how to access their work at home. However, I am providing you all with this piece too.

We are at the very end of our first unit. We are taking the end of unit assessment tomorrow morning. We took a practice test last week, which allowed students to practice the skills that will be on the test. We have been diligently working on supporting our thinking with evidence. I am beyond impressed to do this. We will share this progress at conferences as well!
Math:
We wrapped up our unit last Thursday with our end of module assessment. Tomorrow students will be given the opportunity to see their test scores and reflect. We will begin our new unit after conferences.
Inquiry:
Last week we began our new unit. We started with our SCRAP provocation. It was so neat to see students engage with recyclable materials to create a bracelet or a keychain. It was an awesome experience. This unit will involve innovation to express ourselves. We will be working on coding during this unit as well. We experienced an Unplugged coding lesson last week (without a computer) to help us understand that we should preserve even when things get difficult. We will dive into this unit more when we return from conferences.
