Reading: Our nonfiction reading unit is well on its way! I always love seeing students read nonfiction because they get so excited to share what they learned. We learned that nonfiction can come in variety of different forms and can be written like a narrative. We discovered some new resources for helping us with difficult words. Reading has been jammed packed with nonfiction reading and book choices!
Math: We are almost to the end of our multiplication and division unit! This week we moved into word problems that apply our division skills. We have been practicing a wide variety of different strategies to help us become more efficient and proficient in division. We will take our end of unit test next Friday.
Inquiry: Our unit is in full swing! This week we learned about earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, avalanches, landslides, and mudslides. We learned about tectonic plates while doing a hands on activity with graham crackers and frosting. Next week will continue learning about various natural disasters: wildfires, droughts, and floods. I am eager to see what natural disaster students choose to further research after break!
